Healthy foods can help you protect your heart, brain, and other vital organs but they can also help you protect your LARGEST organ… Your skin!

The Skin Toning Smoothie is incredibly healthy and skin-nourishing, and it tastes AMAZING! Here’s how to make it:

Smoothie Ingredients

Ingredients:
• 2 cups fresh baby spinach
• ½ cup frozen peaches
• ½ cup sliced strawberries
• ½ cup cubed mango
• 1 cup no-sugar-added coconut water
• ¼ avocado
• 1 TBSP all-natural, unsalted almond butter

Instructions:
1. Put the spinach in your blender carafe first, followed by all the other ingredients.
2. Blend until smooth. If needed, add more water, coconut water, or unsweetened almond milk.
3. Drink and enjoy!

Now, don’t be thrown off by the bright green color of this smoothie — the flavor is ALL fruit.

But why is this simple smoothie SUCH a powerhouse?

Polyphenols (berries, spinach, peach): There’s a lot of hype about polyphenols (a special type of antioxidant) lately — and for good reason! Studies have shown they can help protect your skin from the environmental damage that leads to visible aging.1

And since this smoothie combines polyphenols from multiple sources, it packs an even stronger punch.2

Protein (almond butter, avocado): The healthy protein found in the almond butter and avocado does an important job: It helps keep you full and energized.3 That means you’ll be less likely to reach for the sugary snacks that can damage skin.

Plus both of these natural protein sources are rich in skin-clearing zinc to help improve your complexion.4

Omega-3 Fatty Acids (almond butter, avocado): A 2007 study found adults who consumed a diet rich in Omega-3’s had significantly fewer sun-induced skin problems than those who did not.5

Omega-3’s are also shown to help strengthen your skin’s lipid barrier, to keep moisture in and irritants out.6

Vitamin C (mango, peaches): Vitamin C may help prevent UV-related photodamage — a major cause of aging.7 While it’s not a substitute for sunscreen, this may mean fewer sun spots and a more even, radiant complexion.

With all those POWERFUL nutrients in one breakfast, I definitely recommend making it a breakfast staple. Adding in some skin-nourishing meals here and there can give your look a BIG boost… and a recipe this delicious makes it easy!
